Sketchy Ideas #5 - Hats and Grids
Hello sketchnoters my old friends, I've come to share with you again. Two sketchnotes I found appealing. For their content or style. And if you never, want to have one of these emails again, the unsubscribe links at the end, of this thread. And you'll have the sound, of silence.
Content: Six thinking Hats
My parents visited us recently and we got talking about the idea of thinking hats so I thought I'd share this sketchnote from Sketchplanations on the concept.
Style: A flowing grid layout
I previewed this steal last week but here's the original: An enhanced Grid layout from Ania Staskiwewicz.
Discovering sketchnote layouts was the key that unlocked sketchnoting for me. Before I knew them I couldn't see how I could fit things on a page without it just being a mess. After, I had some frameworks to help bring some order to my chaos. And the grid is my favourite.
I love how Ania has added some wavey frames and use of simple colours add Ania's distinct style to the pattern.
Let's steal it!
I decided to use Ania's style for my Black Ink Friday post and so I only used Black, white and shades of grey. Using an app with layers really helped with this style and doing the white text on a black background is certainly easy in digital.
There are some ways to achieve white text on a black background including outlining the letters and then colouring in around them, or colouring in the whole thing and using a white pen or correction fluid for the text.
The part that adds real character is the wave shapes which I used a single layer for above the background and grid layer.
