Sketchy Ideas #36 - bye bye Revue
Welcome back to sketchy ideas. The newsletter that’s a weekly experiment. A bit like Twitter product development at the moment.
Welcome back. I hope you enjoyed the weeks of silence while I was in India. It was an incredible experience and so wonderful to meet other members of the company I just joined.
I was reminded of how powerful diverse teamwork can be.
I was preparing a new email sequence with a colleague and she and I loooked at it from very different perspectives. Each of us brought something unique and it lead to a better end product that was better than what we could make alone.
It was also a reminder of how powerful getting in a room and picking up a whiteboard marker can be.
Don’t get me wrong, I love remote work and digital facilitation tools but there’s something wonderful about getting together and getting your hands on raw materials.
Anyway here’s a sunset from Goa to make you want to visit this beautiful country.
why you should add visuals to presentation
A bonus point. If you are being translated to a multilingual group, putting text on screen is next to useless. But using a visual provides a near universal hook. (Just be careful about visuals which aren’t universal!)
Block party sketchnotes
Benjamin Felis shared a series of sketchnotes on web3 recently and I love how he used blocks to represent the block chain. It’s not easy adjusting text to match different angles!
Benjamin also has some great tutorials on how to learn graphic recording over on YouTube. Check them out.
Bye bye revue
The rumors are true and revue is shutting down in January. I’ve been meaning to move for a while and reviewing my options. I’m 90% decided and so it’s time to jump. New emails will come from chris@sketchyideas.co so get ready for the change.
See you soon!
Chris
