Sketchy Ideas #3 - Student centred assessments and Ted Lasso
Hi, and welcome back to the Learn Create Share Newsletter. Each week I send two interesting sketchnotes I’ve found. If this email was forwarded to you, sign up to receive future issues. If you no longer want to get it, there’s an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Content: Student Centred Assessment Beliefs
Student centred assessment was a core part of our pedagogy at the British Council and it has influenced my views on self study and life long learning. Seeing this sketchnote pop-up in my feed reminded me of many of those old ideas.
I hope it stimulates your curiosity.
Style: Sketchy Sermons's Ted Lasso
I love Paul’s simple style with quotes and shades of Grey. His content is usually Christian but here is one of his more universally quotes.
Something I noticed about Paul's style is his creation of background frames. I set about creating an outline of one to frame the rest of my sketchnote.
This is really easy in an app with layers like procreate — you just create the background then add a layer on top. When using paper or a non layered app, you could get the broad outline down first, or pencil in where you will draw other aspects.
Of course, once I finished I found out that he had a blog post and video on his process. So you can check that out too!
Over to you!
Now it's your turn. You can try and copy Paul's style like I did or send me a sketchnote you've seen recently and liked.
If you do copy it, then I'd love to see your version too.
Bonus: Introducing Sketchy conversations
I've started a new sort of mini podcast over on a platform called racket. There's a 9 minute limit which encourages brevity. You can check out the last one with Mike Rohde on how to improve your sketchnotes next year.
