Patrick Rhone has been sharing segments from his books and I turned one idea into a visual. There are many things that drain us of our energy, but they need to be invited in to drain us. Things like doom scrolling.

@MrChrisJWilson Emojis are everywhere! So one tip I have is to use the emoji picker from your phone to quickly get an idea how to draw emotions (🥳😡🤯😵‍💫🥰) or other things to include in your sketchnote

@MrChrisJWilson Put your “bad” sketches away and look at them again later or the next day. You’ll be surprised how great they already are and that it was you who did the sketchnote.

@MrChrisJWilson My favorite tip is: Try to use very simple shapes. Look around your desk and draw things you see only with rectangles and triangles and circles. Forget 3D, shadow, scale, etc for this one and just put shapes together to make objects

Scaffolding

The topic of scaffolding came up regularly during the sketchnote camp so I wanted to create a sketchnote on it.

Unlike past sketchnotes, I shared an initial draft and asked for ideas and feedback. I got some corrections and ideas and add them in.

To me, this is a step forward in how I create sketchnotes on topics not talks. The idea of “learning in public” and sharing what you know with the goal of getting someone to challenge or correct you so you can know more is really exciting. It’s a chance to learn more.

More community involvement!

I’ve got some practical drawing tips from the community I’ll be sharing next week and keep an eye out on Twitter or Instagram for my next question.
