Sketchy Ideas #28 - The messy process, drawing diversity, and stained glass!
Welcome to Sketchy ideas.
A newsletter where I share interesting ideas I've learned and how to use drawing to aid your thinking.
Welcome to the second of this new quick, newsletter format.
I'm still recovering after the intense sketchnote camp last week so here are a few quick ideas from the camp.
Quote
I managed to capture this quote while live tweeting the event.
It was similar to the points that Mauro made the night before but I'm not sure I grabbed such a pithy quote from him. Anyway, I thought this was a fun way to show the idea.
I wanted the line to look like the creative lightbulb but splitting the line made it appear funny.
Sketchnote: How to draw diversity
Nadine Rossa's talk on how to draw diversity was enthralling.
It was a combination of the importance of representation and making sure we don't do a basic "we've got a wheelchair and a headscarf so we've ticked the boxes!" mindset.
Plus some practical points on how to actually DRAW some of these elements.
Diana did a fantastic job of capturing these points.
Let's make a stained glass image
I saw Omar Lopez's stained glass profile picture and wanted to create my own. This video gives some ideas of how you can get a warped glass and light peeking through effect.
Give it a try and send me your results.
See you next week
