Sketchy Ideas 1: The Sketchnote Roundup
Hi, I'm Chris Wilson and this is the Learn Create Share newsletter. I had a little pause but I'm restarting and sharing a few sketchnotes each edition with some commentary on the content and style. If that doesn't appeal to you, feel free to unsubscribe with the link at the bottom. If this email was forwarded to you, sign up to receive future issues!
That's right, the newsletter is back and I'm focusing more on sketchnotes. Each edition will have a sketchnote with interesting content, and a sketchnote with an interesting style or technique.
In all likelihood, both sketchnotes will have interesting content and styles but the style one will have an activity where we try to copy the effect.
I'd love to know what you make of this new style so reply and let me know what you think.
Style: numbered column

I loved the circle tops on this sketchnote via Voynetch. So I decided to copy it.
Some of the key elements include the darker background with the lighter coloured columns on top. I chose a different shade of grey rather than adding some extra colour for my numbered circles.
This was really easy to emulate in procreate thanks to its layers but the two aspects to consider with analog sketchnotes are leaving space for the circle at the top and not completing the top line of your box.
Content: Complacency sketchnote
Rob actually tagged me with this sketchnote but I found the content very interesting. It got me reflecting about how routines can be useful, but there are dangers when we get stuck in a routine.
Bonus Challenge: The Smells like teen spirit challenge
I made this little challenge to explore different styles of headlines and shared it on Instagram. I thought I'd add it as a bonus challenge.
What do you think?
I hope you like this little experiment. I'd love your feedback and feel free to send me any sketchnotes you think should be featured.
